Rapper Immortal Technique Responds To His Recent Arrest And Robbery Charges

The Hip-Hop great said he's humbled by the messages he's received.
Immortal Technique was reportedly arrested and released on Thursday (March 26) on suspicion of attacking and robbing street vendors in Santa Ana, California. The vendors were selling shirts featuring his image and trademark logo without his approval, according to The Los Angeles Times.
The emcee and his tour manager Steven McDaniel, were arrested for the above charges and for attempting to dissuade a witness, according to police. They were allegedly part of a group of roughly a dozen people who confronted the street vendors outside of The Observatory convert venue.
“The group confronted them over a dispute that the group was not receiving any money from the sales of the T-shirts,” police said in a statement as per The Los Angeles Times. “The victims stated they were beaten and had their T-shirts, cash and cellphones forcibly taken from them.”
The Harlem emcee was at The Observatory to perform with Talib Kweli. Technique completed his set to avoid issues with an unruly crowd, according to The Orange County Register.
Tech and Kweli are co-headlining their The People’s Champions Tour, which has continued without a hitch despite the arrest.
On his end, Immortal Technique has posted a series of Twitter messages, acknowledging that he will make an official statement on the matter soon and that he’s grateful for the support he’s received.

Talib Kweli also posted messages about the incident on Twitter. In his posts, Kweli criticized Santa Ana police.
